DOGGIE JERKY

February 16, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Preheat oven 200 degrees (my stove has dehydrator option I put it at 200 degrees) OR use a dehydrator

INGREDIENTS

1# organic ground meat (93-96% lean)

1 stalk organic celery

1 tablespoon Simply Organic parsley

1 tablespoon organic nutritional yeast

THE PROCESS

*Put the meat in a strainer and let the liquid drain.

*In a food processor process the celery stalk, very fine.

*On a piece of parchment paper put the meat, celery, nutritional yeast, and parsley together. Work it all together with your hands.

*With another piece of parchment paper on top press it down into a very thin rectangle.

*Use a pizza cutter or knife and make strips.

*Carefully separate the jerky so they are not touching.

*This will allow the jerky to dry out evenly.

*Put the parchment paper on an oven proof grate and into the middle of the oven.

*Allow the meat to dehydrate until completely dry. It can take 3-6 hours depending on the thickness of the meat.

*Store the jerky in a bag in the refrigerator. If you make more jerky for more than for a week freeze the surplus.

ENERGY AND FREQUENCY

February 3, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Everything in nature is vibrating. Frequencies are measured in MHz. When we have inflammation, irritation or illness our frequency is below the normal 62-68MHz.

When our frequency is between 62-68MHz we will be in a “state of health”.

We can help raise our frequency with the help of essential oils. Most essential oils resonate at a higher frequency than 62-68MHz.

Rose – 320MHz

Helichrysum – 181MHz

Frankincense – 147MHz

Ravensara – 134MHz

Lavender – 118MHz

Blue Tansy – 105MHz

Myrrh – 105MHz

Blue Chamomile – 105MHz

Melissa – 102MHz

Juniper – 98MHz

Aloes/Sandalwood – 96MHz

Angelica – 85MHz

Peppermint – 78MHz

Galbanum – 56MHz

Basil – 52MHz

*One can increase the frequency of an essential oil by adding an intention or prayer.

Hold the bottle of oil in your hand. Open it, give it a smell. Say your intention for yourself or for the person you will be giving the essential oil to. Place a few drops in the palm of the hand. Make a circle in the oil with your index finger, 3 times clockwise to release the energy in the essential oil. Rub your palms together, cupping your hands, inhale deeply. (Not too close to the eyes).

If doing it with a partner allow them to take a deep breath and inhale.  You can continue on with brushing through the  energy field with the essential oil that you have in your palms of your hands. Start in the front of the body and rotating to the right side, back of the body, through the left side of the body and back to the front, swooping from the top of the head to the feet. This will help clear the persons energy field.

DRY BODY BRUSHING

February 3, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Since the skin is the largest organ in the body it is important to help it with its daily detoxification. A quick 5 minutes of body brushing can do more than just detox the skin.

Why take that 5 minutes to body brush before showering?

Increase the circulation to the skin, possibly reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Produces antibacterial substances to protect against infection and enables your body to produce more Vitamin D when exposed to the sun.

Sheds dead skin cells to help efficiently eliminate wastes from your body.

Improves vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. Massaging lymph nodes helps shed excess water and toxins.

Stimulates nerve endings in the skin.

Helps muscle tone.

Helps for a more sound sleep.

Get started:

You will need a high quality brush made from natural materials.

Do it on dry skin before bathing.

Use light but firm circular, upward motions.

Begin at the ankles moving upward to the heart because that is the natural flow of the lymph. Always brush up and in the same direction.

Pay attention to all the body parts, ankles, lower legs, thighs, stomach, chest, back, and arms. Always being careful over tender, sensitive body parts. Body brushing should not hurt. Do not body brush it you have sores, a rash, sun burn, etc.

Body Brushing 3 times a week is most beneficial.

Shower after body brushing.

Make your own body oil blend with your favorite essential oils. Apply your body oil from the ankles upward toward the heart keeping that lymph flow going.

My favorite essential oil body blend:

15 drops @ Lavender, Frankincense, Orange

10 drops @ Patchouly, Geranium and Neroli

2 oz. Organic Argan oil

2 oz. Organic Almond oil

Mix together in a dark glass spray bottle.

BRAIN AND NOSE WORKING TOGETHER

January 1, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

The nose is one of the first places an essential oil enters the body to do its work.

It is important to understand our olfactory system and how it connects absorbing the scent of essential oils so that they can be utilized within body.

The olfactory pathway and our sense of smell connect mind and memory. The Olfactory system is where aromatherapy begins. We inhale a scent and our nerve cells in the olfactory bulb transport the molecules to the limbic system. The important part of the limbic system for this research is the Hippocampus. The Hippocampus plays a vital role in learning, forming short-term memory, and retaining long term memories. The Hippocampus is one of the first regions of the brain to suffer damage in Alzheimer’s.

“Because the Hippocampus is closely related with learning and memory the compounds found in essential oils can be potential drugs in Alzheimer therapies.”

(PubMed Essential Oils and Pure Volatile Compounds as Potential Drugs in Alzheimer’s Disease)

The odor molecules travel to the Hypothalamus where the chemistry of essential oils call on the pituitary to release endorphins and enkephalins. They act as natural pain killers or create a feel good sensation. The chemistry of essential oils with their therapeutic effects creates a release of endorphins and enkephalins in the body. Within these hormones is serotonin, a happy chemical or feel good hormone making one feel relaxed and calm. A second hormone epinephrine keeps you alert and stimulated. The therapeutic and restorative properties of essential oils may help regulate and control anxiety, stress, anger, or pain within the body when inhaled and passed through the olfactory system.

In addition to our limbic system, our brains are divided into left and right hemispheres. The right brain is our soul, ego, creativity and our true being. When Lavender oil is inhaled and it influences the feeling of calm, relaxation or safety, it is the signal that the emotional right brain is doing its job. The left side of the brain is the cognitive side. This part of your brain recalls the scent that you just inhaled.  It associates Lavender with those particular emotions, memories and past experiences on how that smell will effect the body and the mind. The beauty of our left/right brain is it works together to influence and integrate our mind and body.

An exercise to do everyday to balance the hemispheres of the brain is super brain yoga. A quick and easy exercise that takes only 5 minutes. There is a demonstration of Super Brain Yoga on YouTube. Pick an essential oil that is calling to you for that particular day. Put a couple drops of essential oil  in the palm of your hand. With a finger from your other hand release the essential oils natural energy by circling your finger clockwise three times. Bring it to your nose and inhale. Now you are ready to proceed with doing Super Brain Yoga. It’s amazing how you will find a balance in how you think and feel.

NINGXIA RED

January 1, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Ningxia is made of wolf berry purée which is made from whole gogi berries.
Goji berries are high in antioxidants which can help detoxify the liver and kidneys. There are large amounts of vitamin C which can boost collagen production. Collagen is a protein responsible for healthy joints and skin elasticity. Collagen may improve skin health and gut health, may relieve joint pain, may prevent bone loss and boost muscle mass. It may also improve hair and nails, may help maintain the brain, promote heart health or even help with weight support.
“The goji berry also contains Lycopene. Lycopene is a carotenoid nutraceutical that enhances protection against cancer, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, neurodegenerative disease and inflammatory disease.” (Very Well Health)
“Lycopene has shown to boost levels or pro collagen in the skin significantly, which scientists feel has the potential to reverse skin damage caused by aging.” (WebMd)
Ninxgia is high fiber and protein and contains vitamins A and C. These vitamins help boost the immune system. Ninxgia contains essential amino acids and minerals that also support the immune system and strengthen bones and muscles.
Ninxgia red is a powerful antioxidant which may reduce inflammation. It helps regulate blood sugar and can provide a natural energy boost.

NINGXIA SMOOTHIE

Einkorn Grain

September 29, 2015 By Liz Pilotto

With the need for more food throughout the world our grain has become compromised. When the farmers created faster grain production they eliminated necessary steps to produce a healthy grain. With this quick processing we lose the enzyme needed for digestion. The producers find it more important to create higher yield so more money is made. “The wheat of today is not the same as the wheat of ancient times. Is it possible that this ancient staff of life has become the staff of death and disease today?” This new era of food production created new diseases and undiagnosed symptoms along with a new type of food poisoning. A lot of the pain and inflammatory processes may be caused by gluten intolerance.

Laboratory crossbreeding creates unnatural structures in wheat such as 42 chromosomes. These unfamiliar proteins cannot be digested by our bodies. “Einkorn, with it’s 1 genome, 14 chromosomes, low glycemic index, and very low gluten levels, is definitely our best choice. It is an ancient mineral-and vitamin-dense  grain that is very different from the 42-chromosome, man-made, genetically manipulated modern wheat that threatens the health of the people of the world today.”

Gary Young, being true to his tradition of seed to seal, has given us the Einkorn grain. It is his seeds, his land, his farming, his harvesting, and his production of the wonderful Einkorn products. As always, we can trust and count on perfection. That is what Young Living Products are about.

We can now enjoy making wonderful recipes with the Einkorn flour. There is a pancake mix which can be used for many different recipes besides just pancakes.

The spaghetti is another choice made with the nourishing Einkorn grain.  As always, I love adding the appropriate essential oils to enhance the flavor of my recipes.

Sweetening The Low Glycemic Way

June 15, 2015 By Liz Pilotto

Glycemic index is a measurement of glucose in a particular food that is released over a two to three hour period. Foods low on on the GI scale release glucose slowly and steady so to prevent a sudden spike in blood sugar. Only foods that contain carbs cause this spike; protein and fats do not. Protein and fats are considered to have a zero glycemic index.
Another way to reduce the glycemic index of sweet recipes is to use almond flour, a protein, to help keep a more level blood sugar level.
All sweeteners should be eaten in moderation because of the increased risk of weight gain, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancers.

Low Glycemic Sweeteners

Stevia – 0 Glycemic index
This is an herb 300 times sweeter than sugar. Having a slight aftertaste I always mix it with other sweeteners.

Yacon – 1 Glycemic index
This is from the Yacon plant. This complex sugar is broken down slowly and is considered a prebiotic for gut health. This reminds me of a lighter molasses. Has a date-prune taste. I like mixing this with stevia for a very low glycemic recipe.

Agave – 15 Glycemic index
Agave is from a cactus plant. It is lighter than honey, but similar in taste. A good brand is Madhava raw organic agave.

Brown Rice Syrup – 25 Glycemicu index
Made from boiled brown rice. Thick and light colored like honey. It is pretty sweet.

Lucuma – 25 Glycemic index
Made from the lacuna fruit. Tastes a bit like maple syrup.

Raw Honey – 30 Glycemic index
Being sweeter than sugar you can use less.

Coconut Palm Sugar – 35 Glycemic index
This evaporated sap is from the coconut tree and tastes slightly like brown sugar with similar texture.

Maple Syrup – 54 Glycemic Index

Date Sugar – 68 Glycemic index
Made from dehydrated dates, retaining the nutritional benefits of dates. Not being processed or refined it is considered a healthier option. I love to make my own date paste out of fresh dates. This is guaranteed to blend well in a recipe.

In most of my recipes I combine the higher glycemic sweeteners with stevia. This  mimics a more sugary taste and helps keep costs down with some of the other sweeteners being more costly.

Another way to pack a recipe full of flavor is using Young Living Essential Oils.
Using the essential oils gives such an intense flavor less sweetener can be used.
I love to use Lemon, Lime, Orange, Tangerine, Citrus Fresh, Grapefruit, Cinnamon Bark, Nutmeg, Clove, Cardamon, Ginger, Lavender, Peppermint, Spearmint, Rosemary in all my sweet baking recipes. It makes a flavor that will not be duplicated with extracts. Only a few drops is needed in most recipes.

Keep an eye out on www.sanodivita.com for some new sweet treats using brown rice syrup and Lucuma powder.

Stress and Adrenals

March 9, 2015 By Liz Pilotto

Stress seems to rule our lives causing disease and chaos. In order to live the healthiest life we all deserve we need to learn how to control stress and over -stressed adrenals.

*This is information is not to take the place of medical advice given by your doctor. Consult with your Dr. before you make any changes.

Many of us walk around with adrenal insufficiencies. The health of our adrenals has an effect on our entire body. They can be known as the glands of stress. It is their job to enable our bodies to deal with stress. This is stress in every form: relationships, our job, disease and injuries. These stressors cause deficiencies in our adrenals when they are constantly called upon to perform.  Biochemical changes occur when we’re stressed triggering the fight or flight response. Adrenalin, a hormone secreted by the medulla part of the adrenal gland along with other chemicals are released into the blood stream during a bout of stress. This causes blood pressure to rise, pulse to increase, oxygen intake to be effected, blood flow to the muscles reduced and digestion shutting down. This fight or flight response causing a shut down of bodily functions may cause stomach problems when you have constant stress on the adrenals. These hormones effect all the major processes of our bodies. They regulate normal blood sugar levels, cardiovascular and gastro-intestinal functions. Adrenals process carbohydrates and fats. Adrenals are distribution sights of stored fat, possibly causing the thickness around the middle, especially as we age. Our bodies receive protection against inflammatory reactions as well as anti-oxidant help against allergens from our food, our environment, from drugs and alcohol and from life itself. A big job is the anti inflammatory reaction. It will kick in right away when the adrenals are functioning properly. When they don’t work properly and inflammation builds up it will cause problems in other parts of our body. In our 50’s the adrenals become the primary source of hormones in men and women.
The larger part of the adrenal, the cortex, has 3 sections.  The cortex supplies the body with cortisol, DHEA and is a secondary producer of sex hormones, along with over 50 other hormones. They work constantly needing to rest occasionally. Learning how to deal with stress in a different way will allow the adrenals to be able to stay on task without pooping out and causing problems with health and well-being.

Some symptoms of adrenal insufficiency are:
*lightheadedness when standing up too quickly
*trouble with bright lights
*fuzzy thinking
*absentminded
*mid-morning is when you start to wake up
*there is a slump in between the hours of 2-4pm
*feeling better after your evening meal
*muscle spasms
*depression
*nausea
*don’t handle stress well, not tolerant
*compulsive eating habits, food cravings (sugar, carbohydrates, coffee, colas)
*more addictive behavior
*lethargic and exhausted
*tasks seem like chores including ones that are liked
*sleeping problems –  just can’t sleep or wake up in between 1&3am and can’t go back to sleep
*low blood pressure
*low blood sugar
*heart palpitations

Make intentional choices to change your life.

Recipes to support The Adrenals with Young Living Essential Oils:
1 drop Nutmeg, Clove, Rosemary and Basil in 30ml of carrier oil. Apply this blend to your adrenals. (The top part of your kidney on your back)

Sage, Eucalyptus Radiata, Geranium. 1 drops of each oil. Mix in 30ml carrier oil. Apply to adrenals. A warm compress will help drive the oils deeper into the body and relax the muscles for deeper penetration.

With any diseased condition in the body there will not be just one reason for the cause. There are many reasons. There are many layers that have contributed to that condition in your body.
Many things will help clear it and bring your body into balance.
Try a colon cleanse, kidney cleanse and a liver cleanse. Doing all three will help eliminate toxins coming out the skin causing an outbreak. Every body is different so make the cleanse to suit you with how well you tolerate the detoxification. Try Young Living’s Cleansing Trio.

Now there is a choice for a daily detox called “Whole Body Cleanse and Liver Tone”

Some other things to try for detoxing is OIL PULLING every morning. Choose a 20 minute DETOX BATH. Go to Sanodivita.com, health and wellness section for more information on directions on how to do these techniques.

To bring your CHAKRA ENERGY into balance try a gong bath, yoga and meditation.
