INFLAMMATION

February 10, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Inflammation is the body’s immune response to promote healing. We need this to heal, but too much over too long of time is damaging to our bodies. An over active immune system can lead to joint pain, fatigue, damaged blood vessels, asthma, eczema and allergic rhinitis. All pain is ultimately due to inflammation. Silent inflammation means you are not well, on your way to chronic disease.
The Anti-Inflammation-Zone by Dr. Barry Sears is the book to read for an in-depth knowledge of inflammation and its demons.
Dr. Sears explains how hormonal balance, especially keeping the hormone eicosanoid in balance, is the key to true wellness.
Eicosanoids control inflammation, the underlying cause of chronic disease states.
Eicosanoids are produced from essential fatty acids that the body cannot make, they must be consumed as part of the diet and in supplementation.

CAUSES OF INFLAMMATION:
*Stress – emotional
*Physical Stress – low blood sugar, a fall, a broken bone.
*Digestive Issues – poor diet, IBS
*Blood sugar levels – diabetes
*Food Allergies
*Hormones
*Environmental Toxins – chemicals, synthetic fibers

FOODS TO FIGHT INFLAMMATION:
*Onions and Garlic – natural anti-inflammatory chemicals, quercetin and allicin that produce free radical-fighting sulfuric acid.
*Fish – Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation.
*Dark leafy greens – need Vit.E for cytokines
*Nuts, flax seeds – they have Vit. E, omegas, antioxidants all to help repair damage cause by chronic inflammation.
*Beets – with their crazy bright redness or betalains help fight inflammation.
*Ginger and Turmeric – anti-inflammatory properties.
*Grape seed and Olive oil – omega-9 with anti-inflammatory polyphenols.
The bottom line, lots fruits, veggies, deeply pigmented at every meal for fiber, and natural anti-inflammatory compounds. Oregano, green tea, blueberries, ginger to limit free-radical production in the body.
Stay clear from known allergens like gluten, eggs, dairy, and soy. Leave behind the hydrogenated oils, sugars and refined carbohydrates.

*Here is an ANTI INFLAMMATION drink you can make courtesy of
Niece Leonor Pacheco from Instagram.
1 organic piece of ginger (a large hand size piece with all the fingers)
8-9 pieces of organic turmeric
1 whole fresh organic pineapple
3 small organic lemons
1/2 tablespoon organic cayenne powder
4 cups water
Put the ginger and turmeric in a bath of vinegar and baking soda for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse.
To a high speed blender add the 4 cups of water, peeled cubed fresh pineapple, ginger, turmeric, whole lemons cut in fourths, cayenne powder.
Blend. Strain the juice to get the pulp out.
Take 1 to 2 shots a day.
A good way to store the juice is in an ice cube tray and freeze. Take a couple out each day to drink.

EXERCISE:
Exercise can lower the body’s C-reactive protein which lowers inflammation.
A theory is that exercise causes the body to make more antioxidants that seek and destroy free radicals seen with inflammation.
People who exercise regularly find it much easier to deal with emotional stress.
People who are regularly active, sleep better, manage weight better, feel better physically and have a happier outlook on life.
To reduce inflammation, try to get 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day, five days a week.

MEDITATION:
Meditation to reduce stress.

SUPPLEMENTATION:
Young Living offers many supplements and essential oils that may help in the reduction of stress and add nutritional support for a healthy lifestyle.
Essential Oils Integrative Medical Guide by D. Gary Young, ND on inflammation and essential oils:
Certain essential oils have been documented to be excellent for reducing inflammation. German chamomile, peppermint, helichrysum, spruce, birch, wintergreen and clove all have anti-inflammatory properties.
There are different types of inflammation for which one oil might be better than another:
Myrrh and helichrysum: inflammation due to tissue/capillary damage, bruising.
Roman chamomile and lavender: inflammation due to bacterial infection.
Ravensara, hyssop, and thyme: inflammation caused by viral infection.

Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie and Alan Higley:
According to Dr. David Hill, “Inflammation and oxidation go hand-in-hand.
NingXia Red and Longevity Capsules on a daily basis are a powerful combination to fight oxidation and inflammation system-wide.
Omega-Gize contains clove oil and fish oil, which have been shown to work together to reduce inflammation by up to 30%!
Life 5 a high-potency probiotic for a healthy immune system.
MultiGreens to boost vitality and relieve stress.
Sulfurzyme to aid in the body’s natural defense.

Reduce stress and anxiety with Lavender, Stress Away, Peace and Calming, German Chamomile. Diffuse into the air and meditate.

EMPHYSEMA

February 4, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Emphysema is a chronic lung disease characterized by difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, coughing and fatigue. We will look at some possibilities that may help make life a little easier when suffering from emphysema.

When it comes to difficulty breathing it makes sense to stay calm and destress.

Let’s first start off with a cup of hot tea, honey and lemon to sip on. Add a pinch of organic cardamom if you like.

Medical News Today by Danielle Dresden.  Some teas that are said to be helpful (organic):

Green tea, Chamomile tea, Lemon Balm tea, Linseed tea, Sage tea, Thyme tea, Mallow tea, Rosehip tea, Mint tea.

Next look into some different breathing exercises. This can include Diaphragmatic Breathing which is deep belly breathing. A good way to get started with this is to do some guided meditations. You will kill two birds with one stone by learning how to deeply relax while doing some deep breathing, allowing your body to slow down and destress.

Pranayama, another breathing technique involves yoga and breath regulation.

It is very intentional, inhaling, exhaling and holding your breath in a specific sequence. You can go on YouTube and find many instructors guiding you through the sequence. Also on YouTube you can find the “pocket breath coach” breathing for stress 4-7-8. There is a beautiful ocean background with the ocean sounds and a simple to follow breathing diagram with a sounding gong alerting you when to breath, hold and exhale your breath. Check it out.  It is very well done helping to calm anxiety.

Essential oils can be included in several ways.

*Epsom salt bath. In a measuring cup, measure 2 cups Epsom salt and add to that 5 drops Lavender and 5 drops Bergamot. Mix it together and pour it into a running bath. Swish the water to mix thoroughly.

*Diffuse in your favorite diffuser. Some essential oils to help with breathing:

Myrtle, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lemon, Raven, RC, Orange. Go slow and add only a few drops to the diffuser to see how it is tolerated.

*Make an oil spray to apply to your chest, back, bottom of your feet.

In a 4 oz. dark glass bottle fill with a carrier oil of your choice.

Add to that: 5 drops Lavender, 2 drops Eucalyptus, 5 drops Chamomile.

Shake it to mix.

*Supplements to consider:

CoQ10 (Young Living Cardiogize)

Vitamins D, C, E, A (Young Living has Super D, Super C, Illumineyes contains Vitamin A and E)

Omega fatty acids (OmegaGize)

*Here is an ANTI INFLAMMATION drink you can make courtesy of Niece Leonor Pacheco from Instagram.

SERIOUS DETOX-BATH with YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS

February 4, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

The most amazing bath recipe given to me by a friend, I added the essential oils. It has healing salts and valuable essential oil essences that can be an experience better than the sea. The aroma alone, as you close your eyes, while wrapped in the heat of the water will bring about bliss. If the tub has sauna jets turn them on to allow all the salt to penetrate every bit of your sinuses. Just breathe, bathing the sinuses with the healing salts and essential oils. As you are laying back, eyes closed, breathing, take the ginger wrapped in cheese cloth, squeeze repeatedly. This will help release tension and give each hand a nice bit of exercise they truly deserve.

This is a detox-bath that should be done twice a week for 4 weeks.
The bath should be as hot as you can take.
Soak in the hot bath for 20 minutes.

INGREDIENTS for DETOX-BATH
*3#s canning salt (I bought mine on Amazon).
*3#s baking soda,
*2 tbs. fresh ground ginger wrapped in a piece of cheese cloth
*1 cup of Epsom salt to add essential oils.

In the cup with the Epsom salt add the essential oils. Mix them in.
Add all the ingredients above to the hot bath water. Get in and soak for 20 minutes.

**Just up for a SIMPLE MINERAL BATH SOAK, reduce the ingredients to:
1 cup each canning salt, baking soda and Epsom salt.
add the essential oil to the Epsom salt, never directly into the water.

Recipes for adding essential oils:
SORE MUSCLES:
2 drops each Young Living Cypress, Wintergreen, and Lavender.
ACHES AND PAINS:
2 drops each Young Living Peppermint, Marjoram, Copaiba.
CRAMPING MUSCLES:
2 drops each Young Living Lemongrass, Peppermint, Rosemary.
If you are experiencing any kind of inflammation always add Copaiba.

“SKIN CONDITIONS”
DRY SKIN:
7 drops Young Living Lavender and 5 drops Geranium.
ECSEMA:
2 drops each Young Living Lavender, Melaleuca (tea tree), Thyme.
ITCHING OR RASHES:
2 drops each Young Living Peppermint and Melaleuca, 7 drops Young Living Lavender.
UPTIGHT OR STRESSED:
7 drops Young Living Peace and Calming or
7 drops Young Living Stress Away.

Most importantly, in wanting to detox your body drink “NingXia Red” everyday.
This juice, made out of wolf berries, essential oils and other berries is a tremendously high anti-oxidant. It can help remove the free radicals from our bodies which can destroy our cells, lead to disease and play havoc with our bodies. I have experienced this drink aiding in my improved immune system, energy, youthfulness and a general feeling of GREAT.

ENERGY AND FREQUENCY

February 3, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Everything in nature is vibrating. Frequencies are measured in MHz. When we have inflammation, irritation or illness our frequency is below the normal 62-68MHz.

When our frequency is between 62-68MHz we will be in a “state of health”.

We can help raise our frequency with the help of essential oils. Most essential oils resonate at a higher frequency than 62-68MHz.

Rose – 320MHz

Helichrysum – 181MHz

Frankincense – 147MHz

Ravensara – 134MHz

Lavender – 118MHz

Blue Tansy – 105MHz

Myrrh – 105MHz

Blue Chamomile – 105MHz

Melissa – 102MHz

Juniper – 98MHz

Aloes/Sandalwood – 96MHz

Angelica – 85MHz

Peppermint – 78MHz

Galbanum – 56MHz

Basil – 52MHz

*One can increase the frequency of an essential oil by adding an intention or prayer.

Hold the bottle of oil in your hand. Open it, give it a smell. Say your intention for yourself or for the person you will be giving the essential oil to. Place a few drops in the palm of the hand. Make a circle in the oil with your index finger, 3 times clockwise to release the energy in the essential oil. Rub your palms together, cupping your hands, inhale deeply. (Not too close to the eyes).

If doing it with a partner allow them to take a deep breath and inhale.  You can continue on with brushing through the  energy field with the essential oil that you have in your palms of your hands. Start in the front of the body and rotating to the right side, back of the body, through the left side of the body and back to the front, swooping from the top of the head to the feet. This will help clear the persons energy field.

DRY BODY BRUSHING

February 3, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Since the skin is the largest organ in the body it is important to help it with its daily detoxification. A quick 5 minutes of body brushing can do more than just detox the skin.

Why take that 5 minutes to body brush before showering?

Increase the circulation to the skin, possibly reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Produces antibacterial substances to protect against infection and enables your body to produce more Vitamin D when exposed to the sun.

Sheds dead skin cells to help efficiently eliminate wastes from your body.

Improves vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. Massaging lymph nodes helps shed excess water and toxins.

Stimulates nerve endings in the skin.

Helps muscle tone.

Helps for a more sound sleep.

Get started:

You will need a high quality brush made from natural materials.

Do it on dry skin before bathing.

Use light but firm circular, upward motions.

Begin at the ankles moving upward to the heart because that is the natural flow of the lymph. Always brush up and in the same direction.

Pay attention to all the body parts, ankles, lower legs, thighs, stomach, chest, back, and arms. Always being careful over tender, sensitive body parts. Body brushing should not hurt. Do not body brush it you have sores, a rash, sun burn, etc.

Body Brushing 3 times a week is most beneficial.

Shower after body brushing.

Make your own body oil blend with your favorite essential oils. Apply your body oil from the ankles upward toward the heart keeping that lymph flow going.

My favorite essential oil body blend:

15 drops @ Lavender, Frankincense, Orange

10 drops @ Patchouly, Geranium and Neroli

2 oz. Organic Argan oil

2 oz. Organic Almond oil

Mix together in a dark glass spray bottle.

ANTIOXIDANTS

January 28, 2025 By Liz Pilotto

Antioxidants are needed to neutralize “Free Radials” in our body that accumulate from lifestyle, stress, and our environment. Too many free radicals can  potentially result in disease. Some free radicals are necessary for our immune system to fight off infections. A balance is necessary for our health. Too many free radicals can cause DNA damage. A constant state of abundant free radicals causes oxidative stress contributing to the aging process especially when the oxidative stress brings about chronic disease.

Antioxidants contain nutrients like vitamins C & E that help protect the cells in our body from damage. They inhibit the oxidation process protecting against cell damage.

It is possible to get the antioxidants your body needs from good, wholesome, preferably organic food.

“Colorful fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants. Generally, the darker the color, the more antioxidants it contains. Rich, leafy greens like spinach and kale are great sources of antioxidants along with red, purple and yellow fruits and vegetables like strawberries, cherries, Brussels sprouts, corn, peppers, onion, eggplant, plums, broccoli, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, blueberries, pomegranate—and the list goes on.”

*Henry Ford Health by Patricia Jurek June 8, 2020

An easy way to get antioxidants is to drink them.

Young Living Ninxgia Red is one of the highest antioxidant drinks. Besides Ninxgia Red containing the goji berry it contains aronia juice, sweet cherry, plum, blueberry and pomegranate. Then, amazingly, it has grape seed extract, orange peel oil, yuzu rind oil, lemon peel oil and tangerine rind oil. The added oils make it way more than an antioxidant. Citrus oils, high in vitamin C, boost the immune function of white blood cells.

Apple juice, tomato juice, green tea, beer or wine are other sources of antioxidants.

There are lots of options to get your daily antioxidants for a healthier, more youthful life.
